Abstract

The possibilities of the interpretation of the text, which have been provided by the postclassical narratology with its cognitive orientation, also have great effect in the analysis of lyric poetry. According to the lack of the certain methodology, the interpretation of lyric poetry was usually a combination of different approaches. With the narratological analysis, lyric poetry gets more chanches for further and more detailed interpretation. By using the achievements of the cross-generic application of narratology, Peter Hühn and Jens Kiefer collected their works in the book entitled The Narratological Analysis of Lyric Poetry: Studies in English Poetry from the 16th to the 20th Century, where we can see how this new approach in poetry works in practice. The introduction to the book, written by Peter Hühn and Jörg Schönert brings the clarifcation of the methodology and (re)defnes the terms that are going to be used, such as sequentiality, mediacy, event, eventfulness, incident, existent. The main adventage of this approach lies in its reconceptualizations and in attempts to improve the theory of poetry.
