U svojim ranijm pesmama „Posveta za komad zemlje“ (“Dedication for a Plot of Ground”) i „Jagorčevina“ (“Primrose”) Vilijam Karlos Vilijams (William Carlos Williams) koristi poetski spisak da bi postigao kompleksni efekat kako u poetskoj strukturi pesama, tako i u poetskoj tradiciji kojoj ove pesme pridružuje. Korišćenje spiska u prvoj pesmi na originalan način rezultira u kreaciji moderne elegije koja uspostavlja drugačiji odnos prema mrtvom dok se u drugoj pesmi poetski spisak koristi u cilju osvajanja novog prostora za pastoralu.
